I've read many of the heated postings here re Patois. (Agree or not, they're fairly entertaining in their own right.)
In any case, last night was quite a beautiful evening to be eating dinner outside and we knew (from past experience -- OK, I admit it) that Patois had a decent backyard (don't like sitting on the sidewalk smelling fumes and taking stares), so we went.
Must say it was very pleasant. Alan Harding nowhere to be seen (not that he ever gave us trouble, personally) and nothing but sweetness and light from the 3 waitstaff with whom we dealt. Good food. Very pleasantly surprised by a number of wine choices less than $20 per bottle (see my post of 7/14), which made for a total tab (bottle + 2 apps + 2 fish entrees + 2 desserts + tax/tip) of $92. Not too bad all in all.
OK, so they never brought Mary (or charged for) her coffee, but you can't have everything.
Meanwhile, the new Indian place next door was empty, despite their own decent-looking backyard. We'll give them a chance next time.
