Very prominent story in the business section of today's LA Times about this "gourmet sandwich chain", (if that's not an oxymoron?) plans to open up to 100 cafe-bakeries in the Southland over the next few years.
The fist one should open in 2003. Supposedly they offer a "mix of a coffeehouse-like ambience-fireplaces", (to get away from those raging snow storms here in LA?), "plush leather couches and soft jazz-and fancy sandwiches served on 30 types of freshly baked bread..."
They currently operate in 30 states and started ou as Au Bon Pain in St. Louis.
Anyone know them? Anyone like them? Anyone excited by the coming of their fireplaces and plush leather couches to a mini-mall near you?
