paella in poughkeepsie.

last night, went to castillo espanol on main st. in poughkeepsie.

they have an early bird dinner special for 12.95; soup or salad, a meal, flan and coffee. we both had the paella, because it was one of only 2 dishes offered on the special that were definitely spanish (how does chicken parm become a spanish dish?). there were regular spanish dishes on the main menu, but we both had a gunning for some form of paella...

anyhow, the paella was good, not great. smelled out of this world, the seafood was cooked nicely (the mussels should have been cleaned a little better, i believe). the taste went well with the rice.

the sangria was not weak sangria that i'm used to, but strong (for sangria), more of the wine / alcohol involved.

surprising to me - the place has been around for a few yearse, we were there til about 645, and were the ONLY customers in the place. on a wednesday.

all in all, decent for this area.
