Since someone asked about Paella "down the Peninsula", we thought it was our duty to go and try it at Ole Ole, a Spanish and Peruvian restaurant in downtown San Mateo. We had tried the restaurant previously -- and ate tapas only -- and it was very good.
The Paella was pretty good. The shrimp was good, the calimari was a tiny touch rubbery, the chicken was tender and tasty, the clams were clams....
But the rice background was bland. We hardly tasted any saffron. The texture was fine, there was a browned bit on the bottom of the pan. But it was just bland.
Not really recommended.
