Pacifica Cafe

We went to Pacifica Cafe at 621 Center Point Way in Gaithersburg's Kentland Market Square last weekend. My wife grew up in Shanghai, and she wanted to take a Shanghainese exchange student there since she had heard that the chef was from a famous restaurant her hometown. Judging by their reaction it was a huge success.

We had rice cakes with pork, a blanched chicken dish with a seasame-soy dipping sauce, steamed buns, fish with mushrooms, and pork meatballs with rice noodles. All were very well-prepared with the pork meatballs being the best of the lot. The student was in heaven. Her school back in Shanghai sends students to the DC area every year, and she planned to spread the word about Pacifica Cafe.

Worth checking out if you want to sample some traditional Shanghai dishes.

PS Yahoo yellow pages lists this as Pacific Cafe. Both their sign and card say Pacifica.
