Went to the Oyster Bar today for lunch. Bowl of New England Clam Chowder. Boyfriend had fish soup "marseilleise" with a saffron-flavored broth, and we had an assortment of oysters that was just outta this world. Their east coast selection is terrific right now. Some really nice and big ones - and the cherrystone clams were the best I"ve ever had - peachy colored flesh, nice bite to them, big and slight sweetness to them - delicious. A glass of their house sancerre - the perfect oyster accompaniment.
Then...a blueberry pie with a "curry crust" - fantastic. The crust was brownish, with hints of cardamom, cloves, ginger, and cayenne. Served with a spoonful of rasberry sauce on the plate...yum.
No pumpkin pie today, but they said they'd have it during the week. The Meyer Lemon tart looked gorgeous too, as did the Key Lime Pie.
