Does anyone use a program for tracking their recipes and generating shopping lists from them?
I downloaded "Shop'NCook", a demo program, and have been loading my recipes onto that for a week now as I used them. It provides a 45 day free trial. I realized at the end of the trial period, I'll be invested in the product. (There seem to be export functions but I've not tried them yet.) The software has been around for awhile.
I wonder if anyone is using their computers to handle recipes and shopping lists. Shop'NCook does better than one other freeware shopping list generator I've seen in that you can mark some ingredients as pantry items always stocked, so the shopping list generated doesn't have you buying water. And it can read a text recipe and do a pretty good job of sorting ingredients out of the text. And there is a quantity function, for doubling and such.
It makes sense to me to have the same program handle some meal planning but that is not a function in the Shop'NCook. (Other than saying "add this recipe to my shopping list", I haven't seen any place to keep track of what recipes were used. I would also like to keep track of what I've served for both home meals and special events, and who the guests were.) Of course I can do this on paper but we've got a computer installed in the kitchen now and I'd like to go digital and keep notes on my recipes other than in the margins of the books.
I would like recommendations for a shareware program if possible.
