My husband and I have eaten here three nights in a row and have been very happy each time. The restaurant looks kind of like a lunch cafe with lots of seating. But they will serve people until 9:30 at night on weekdays and I think until ten on weekends. Inside it looks very clean and appealing. The service is fast, and they bring the food as it is ready! It doesn't sit and get cold. It is made fresh and very hot when it comes to the table. And it tastes awesome! Everything we have tried is our favorite so far. And there is always enough left to take home and enjoy later. Sizzling Veggie Steak ($11.50) comes on a hot plate and they pour a really tasty thin pepper gravy over it, and it sizzles. Has broccoli and cauliflower on the side of the plate. Vegetables and tofu ($8.75 and generous portion) Has 8 different kinds of veggies (bok choy, mushroom, carrots, water chestnuts- can't think of the others- and big yummy chunks of tofu and slices of a veggie meat that tastes a lot like ham) Then we thought we would try something different and tried the Vegi cutlet with orange sauce. ($11.50) When my hubby first tried it he had this look on his face and I thought he didn't like it. He LOVED it! When we became vegetarians, chicken was something difficult for him to give up. But this dish tastes like chicken! The orange sauce is made with orange juice and taste great over it. We always order the potato fries too. Fresh cut with peels on and so good if you request the miso sauce which isn't on the menu. It taste like gravy and fries. Brown rice is great in a bowl on the side to make everything complete. We simply love this place. The staff (Especially Ken) treats us wonderfully! We walk in and they are in smiles, and we recieve great service through our meal. No dustballs rolling off the lamps like Naams, or spiderwebs in the corner, or a dirty kitchen to look at. No worries about food that taste like it was sitting on a steam table all day and then burned on a grill by someone who doesn't know how to cook it. (This has been our Naams experience. They also turned us away twice when we wanted take-out because they were just too busy for us.) The food is fresh! fresh! fresh! The people are nice! nice! nice! And we will be returning again and again. There is a nice big menu and lots of stuff to try. Okay, there's mine and my hubby's experience. If you want a good chinese vegetarian restaurant to try, Om is on 3466 Cambie Street, across from Choices natural foods store. It is just a few stores down from the Park theatre. My take-out menu says they are open 7 days a week from 11:30 am until 9:30 pm. and their number is 604-873-6868. Hope you like it as much as we do.
