For our first anniversary last year, we enjoyed a marathon evening at Jewel Bako and would like to celebrate with another great omakase meal. I've done a search for omakase in Manhattan, but the new search results do not yield much info and I don't want to rely on the older posts.
Here's what I've narrowed our choices down to:
*Seki (according to their answering machine, they are currently closed and will open again in October)
*Sushi of Gari
Can anyone offer opinions of what to expect from these places/point me to some recent threads/suggest other options?
No need to suggest Yama, Tomoe, Blue Ribbon -- those places are fine, but we're looking for a bit more of a splurge and to treat ourselves to top notch fish.
Atmosphere is not as important as the fish and the chef's skill and talent. Price is not too much of an issue, though an all-you-can-eat sea urchin fest is probably out of the question this year.
Thanks in advance.
