Just got back from working the Alameda Meals on Wheels fundraiser at Rosenblum where I tried a number of lovely wines from various local producers. The one new-to-me winery that really rocked my tastebuds was Blacksmith Cellars. (Sorry I didn't take very good notes this time)
2008 Alta Mesa Torrontes: $15: Recently voted one the SF Chronicle's Best Wines under $15 and I agree! Refreshing, lovely acidity, yum!
2005 Monterey Chenin Blanc ($15) 40 yr old vines on original rootstock, this one is dry with interesting layers of flavors, some smoky notes if remember correctly and a fairly long finish.
2007 North Coast Late Harvest Malvasia Bianca:($18): I love finding dessert wines that are sweet & light, not syrupy and have a nice balance. I could drink this one all day long.
Oh yeah, they make reds too, but didn't have any with them today.
(BTW, the winermaker is a really nice guy)
