Thanks to chowhound, I went to Matt's in the Market for dinner this Saturday & as everyone on this board sugguested, it was excellent. My friend and I split a clams appetizer: delicate and yet spicy broth with tender little clams. For the entree I had ling cod w/the most amazing black olives with stems in them. They were so good, I couldn't believe it - I've never had olives like that before. I think the flavor was accentuated by the sundried tomatoey, saffrony broth.
Other food tales: happy hour appetizers in the warwick hotel: surprisingly good steamed mussels and surprisingly soggy calamari in a tasteless "spicy" sauce. What are their dinners like? Has anyone here eaten at their "Brasserie Margaux"?
dinner at Ettas on Friday night: unsually good fish and chips w/great slaw.
Best surprise of the trip: I was staying at the Warwich and loved Ralph's grocery across the street. Instead of eating horrible, overpriced airport food on the way back, I got a $4.00 three cheese sandwich with everything (sprouts, onions, tomaotes, mustard) on whole wheat. nice place. The breakfast egg and cheese I had there a few days earlier was a little less thrilling as the cheese was just a slice of unmelted american and the tomatoes were mealy.
