Novelties, Oddities, and the other bits

(New poster, though I have taken the time to read through recent postings before jumping in.)

I work in the loop and live near the Devon Indian/Pakistani community. I teach a course on food and culture at DePaul and only recently came across this list while reading Calvin Trilling's "Feeding a Yen" (worth the read if you haven't yet).

I find that I am a bit of an adventurous eater. I enjoy the oddities that others snub (duck tongues and jellyfish in Chinatown, organ meat, etc). Squid and eel were treats as a child. I was wondering if there are other adventurous souls out there with a finds to share.

I have an Ecuadorian restaurant on my list-to-try that serves guinea pig (if you order it a couple of days in advance). Yet to go.

I was also wondering if there has been any attempt on the list (didn't see one) to organize outings to some of the better finds? It seems that sampling restaurants' menus would be easier with several people to 'share the burden' (sweet, sweet burden).
