i'll be in honolulu (waikiki) for eleven days starting saturday. i've been about eight times (family from there) and already know to go to leonards (straight from the airport, and right before taking off), champion, zippys, rainbow, genki, waiola, and jimbo's. and, of course, a day trip to matsumoto's. i've been watching the eat_nopal "waikiki proximity" and kimcheesoup "hole in the wall" topics closely for more information.
what i haven't seen yet is a thread that focuses noodles, my favorite. which noodle places offer housemade (or even handmade!) noodles? in particular, i'm interested in a noodle (ramen, saimin, udon, and company) joint that offers dishes *without* pork or beef, either on top or in the broth. i eat chicken and fish. is such a thing possible??
i've gotten some good restaurant leads off the recent threads, and the honolulu advertiser's "best restaurants" list, but please feel free to offer other inexpensive recs (i'm in law school, so i'm on a budget). i'll have a car.
