Arriving this Friday 7pm, and need a rec for dinner Midtown East. We are very adventurous eaters and prefer to eat what we can't find or cook at home. Because of a hectic travel day, we want to stay close to the hotel that night.
Saturday and Sunday, we plan to eat our way thru Manhattan and looking for recs in any neighborhood and any type of food. Wine shops, Farmers' Markets, food stores, dives, hidden gems...
Lastly, celebrating a 50th Bday on Sunday, so what would be a not to miss experience? brunch or dinner? Not looking to spend $200 a head or for anything overly formal or touristy, as this is a laid back trip. Just want to eat like a local and explore.
So, if you had 2 days, 3 nights and were going to the chair on Monday, where would you eat? And yes, I've searched this board extensively, but would appreciate any input.
