We tried this restaurant both in the night and the day. Here's our report.
Dinner was tasty enough. Decent prices. While the staff was VERY friendly, our waiter was terrible. He seemed really inexperienced, which is ok for a more casual place, but this place is competing with Al Di La, where the waiters know the food and wine backward and forward and are well versed in table etiquette. This guy was just not waiter material, no idea what the wines by the glass tasted like ("good" is not how you describe a wine; and further, offering a taste is always an easy, generous, professional way to deal with that situation). He never put down our glasses in front of the right person, rather just kind of dumped them anywhere on our table and on the empty table adjoining ours. When our dinner plates were finally cleared, after we had stacked them b/c they sat there for about 20 minutes, the owner was kind enough to take them away, but left all sorts of silver and bread plates on the table (mind you, we were only two people), which were never removed through dessert, until we asked for them to be removed.
Brunch, same bumbling waiter, no personality. Did not bring our complementary items like, juice and muffins until we ASKED for them. Never checked on how our food was. Was completely oblivious when we were trying to get his attention. The other servers, and the hostess, were EXTREMELY helpful, though. So overall, we really like the people and it's obvious that they care and are trying. But this waiter needs some polishing. Brunch food-wise was fair. Nothing to stray from our favorite for. Potatoes tasted old and dried out--we all know potatoes are the KEY to brunch.
Keep trying N&D; we will def. be back for your fair prices, tasty dinner, nice wines and friendly staff. But we'd love to see some improvement.
