Reflecting on the opinions offered in some recently locked threads, there was one theme that kind of struck me. There were a few comments from newbies stating they felt the boards were some what intimidating. Whether it is the perceived cliques, harsh tones, or just overall fear of the unknown, it concerned me that people would be intimidated to participate in a forum such as this.
I did a quick search for the term “Newbie” in on this board and only came upon this one post, with no responses, a few years old, which seems to make a sincere effort to welcome or help newbies.
Kudos to meatn3 for attempting to reach out to newbies and help them feel more comfortable or knowledgeable, again, I’m surprised that post garnered -0- responses.
So here is my attempt to do the same…………..I offer this thread to all Newbies to come with questions where you can ask and be assured to receive a non-judgmental or critical response. Use this thread to dip your toe into the Chow pool and see if the temperature is to your liking……..no need to dive right in at first, ask your questions and proceed at your own pace.
Here is a link to Chow’s posting guidelines; (something I never read till now, and honestly found it a little difficult to even find on the home page)
Welcome to Chow……have a look around……we hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any questions please feel free to ask them here.
Jr. (I have no official Chow capacity here, I'm just a participant like you)
