Sons took me to a new Mediterranean restaurant here for my birthday...it was stellar! Presentation was superb, food was incredible. To be more specific, the butternut squash soup I could almost taste just from the aroma...cumin and not sure what other spices but it was just gorgeous. Youngest son had the calmari, served in a crystal margarita glass with a roasted red pepper sauce in a small pewter pitcher on the side...that sauce was different and delicious. I ordered the watermelon salad to share, which was fantastic and also served as a palate cleanser, whether meant to or not. It was served with fresh feta, paper-thin sliced red onion, fresh mint and a delicate drizzle of a balsamic reduction. Our entrees were outstanding...older son had a seafood medley in a tomato-saffron sauce, younger son had braised lamb shank and I had the pork braised with sun-dried tomatoes, moroccan spices, and raisins over vegetable couscous.
Atmosphere was relaxed but elegant and the service was impeccable. I've been wanting to try this restaurant since I read the review of it...Mediterranean foods are among my favorite, especially after visiting Barcelona in 2001.
Has anyone else tried Nektar? To us, it was fabulous and I just had to share!
