Soo...my husband and I (die-hard Hounds) are entertaining his parents (not Hounds, from out of town, not used to Boston prices) this weekend. We want to go somewhere tonight to eat and watch the Red Sox game. It needs to be inexpensive (entrees less than $15) and mainstream-American, and needs to have TVs playing the game. But, selfishly, I'd like to go somewhere that actually has good food.
(We went to Temple Bar last night, which was the worst of both worlds: seemed too pricey to them, and, for me, pedestrian-to-terrible food. I had a $19 pasta special with crabmeat and a lobster "nage"--mushy pasta; minimal presence of crab; salty, over-reduced khaki-colored sauce.)
We're in Cambridge, but we'll be driving, so we can go pretty much anywhere. I'm actually wondering if a place outside the city center would be better--quieter and more chance of getting a good view of the game.
Help! If we can't come up with a good idea, the in-laws will make us eat at their hotel's dismal "bar and grille"!
