Drum Circles, dancing, Indian Tacos (Buffalo meat on fry bread taco shells), and fry bread with honey. It was a good day along the James River and a fun and colorful time.
The taco was a delicious snack for two with puffy/crispy fry bread, ground buffalo, homemade pintos, radishes, lettuce, carrots, red cabbage, melted cheese and tomato salsa, with a little hot sauce.
The fry bread with clover honey was much more than funnel cake, with it's tender interior and slightly crispy exterior. It was simple, decadent, and gone in seconds.
If you've never been to a Pow Wow you must attend one and experience a bit of Native American culture, where dancers, adorned in elaborate traditional clothing, rhythmically move to body vibrating drum beats, and sing with howling, melodic pitches resonating in memory of struggles, tradition and family long passed.
Indian tacos are a savory Americanized treat you can enjoy while observing and experiencing original, authentic Native American culture, and for a true taste of that culture attend a Pow Wow.
