We have been going to Punjab in Arlington Center since it opened and have always been interested in the exotic "naanwich" ("Fresh baked naan, creamy yogurt dressing stuffed with (chicken tikka, lamb or veg" ...now available all day). So, yesterday for lunch he got the chicken tikka n'wich and I had the veggie, we ordered them "hot" on the heat scale (which, as you know, doesn't always mean hot).
Imagine a large piece of slightly charred naan, stuffed and rolled up (and I mean stuffed - you can't get your mouth around it) with grilled zuc, summer squash, cauliflower, fresh lettuce, cukes and purple onion with enough lemon yogurt sauce to bring everything together. The cauliflower was the highlight since it could hold the dry curry spices better, and the heat was excellent..only at the end (as the yogurt dressing pooled on the plate) did I see the finely chopped chilies in the dressing...yowza!
He said "this is the spiciest sandwich i've ever had" and his tikka certainly looked it -- bright red/orange chicken pieces packed into the naan...as tears streamed down his face I knew he loved it. Great to find this interesting and oh so good variation on an otherwise standard Indian menu.
