Like many hounds (maybe all) today, I received a join-up invitation to MySimon from Chowhound. MySimon has started a coupon discount service ala Groupon, which is all the rage these days... ala Blackboard, Restaurant.com, even Zagat.
Fair enough, but worried that Chow is selling or distributing their membership list to others. Discovered that both Chow and MySimon are owned by CNET so that wasn't the case. It's not like they're selling the subscriber list. But still it feels we've all been put on a non Chow mailist without permission.
That said, I don't begrudge CNET trying to make a dime, even though they're climbing aboard what's become an over-crowded bandwagon.
