Help! Moving to Bloor & Spadina

kornheiser | Mar 30, 2006 07:05 AM

As much as it pains me to say, I'm leaving my beloved Corso Italia for Bloor & Spadina. Living up the hill at St. Clair & Dufferin has spoiled me. For instance, I've had at my disposal -

-Caffe 163
-Abica
-Santo Christiano
-New Tivoli
-Regal Heights Bistro
-Regal Heights Cafe
-Marcello's
-La Bruschetta
-The Big Ragu
-Dairy Freeze
-La Paloma
-The Gem
-Palermo Bakery
-Tre Mari Bakery
-Diana Grocery
-Gino's Meats
-Atlas One
-The Hungarian Consulate
-Khmer Thai
-Ferro
-The Rushton

Well, I'm quite familiar with the Bloor & Spadina area, and it seems to me that there isn't much in the way of good, authentic, unironic establishments where one can become a true regular and have an incredible meal while not sharing a room with a dozen or so empty vessels (hipsters).

I'm looking for the following suggestions that might supplant what my old neighborhood offered in spades -

-Good bars (with nice brews and free of hipsters)
-Good bakeries (esp. Italian or Eastern European)
-Good grocery stores/markets
-Good delis
-Exceptional restaurants in every possible price range
-Good take-out (esp. Chinese, Thai or fish and chips)

Please accept my thanks in advance. This is an excrutiating move for me.
