Some acquaintances recommended Mosun Sushi & Sake in Laguna and added that they do a "Locals 50% off" thing on Wednesdays. That's all it took to get me there. Very much worth the 50 minute wait.
Menu offerings are not particularly adventurous but the fish quality was extremely good, at least in comparison with what I'm used to. Albacore tatake a bit over-done for me, but tasty. Several combo rolls, and baked rolls followed a seafood salad and some spicy tuna hand rolls and hamachi, salmon and tuna sushi. We always end with hamachi sashimi, which was very good though not quite as orgasmic as others I've had. Very "in" crowd for a sushi place - (there's a club upstairs)and the staff is OC-modern for the most part. My son worked at The Geisha House for a while and said the scene was similar but the food much better at Mosun.
Four of us ate for two hours and, including the non-discounted Sapporo and house sake, the bill was $108. I added a tip based on no-discount (it's not the staff's fault that the house does the discount, and our server was very good).
VERY enjoyable experience. I'd like to go back and see what Omakase would be like.
