After 3 weeks of sampling mooncake,I came to the conclusion that Tai Hing Wha bakery(244 grand st bet bowery & chrystie )makes the very best mooncake in this year.
I tried last year ,the mooncake wasn't
good -dry,bland,heavy,one of those typical mooncakes-.
But this year,the mooncakes look different,taste different,even displayed differently.Did they have new pastry chef?
The mooncakes are light,full of flavor,both red bean and lotus seed paste are moist and tasty.You can tell that it's freshly made.Also they don't seal in plastic(good point!).
Somehow,Fortune stars's mooncakes aren't as good as last year.But the steamed red bean bun ( Not yellow or lotus seed,some times people at the counter are confused,it's RED BEAN!!)is still the best in NY!
