Monopotassium glutimate

Father Kitchen | Jan 31, 2010 03:50 PM

A few days ago, while shopping, I picked up some cans of "MSG-free" cream of mushroom soup that a confrere wanted for a casserole. When I got home, I read the ingredient list and found that it contained monopotassium glutimate.
MSG is an "excitotoxin" that can cause neurological damage if it crosses the brain blood barrier. Does anyone know if monopotassium glutimate causes similar damage?
