Moksha (formerly Spice Grill)

Hey there, Chowhounds... I've quick question which hopefully anybody with a knowledge of the Indian Food scene in New York could help me with.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Indian Food restaurant was Spice Grill, on Murray Street between Church and Broadway. I went there once a week (at least). One day, they mysteriously changed their name to Moksha, but everything remained the same. Then, around last September, they closed for "renovations" which they claimed wouldn't take more than a month. Well, they essentially were closed for 6 months, and today I saw they were finally open. But apparently, it's an entirely different place now, with a new chef (formerly from Tamarind) and a new owner.

Now, the food at Moksha was quite good today, and I definitely intend to go again, but I was kind of heartbroken to find out that the old chef from Spice Grill was gone. The thought of never again having his chicken tikka masala or his banarsi samosas (with pomegranate sauce!) or his mumbai crepes might be too much for me to bear.

So I was wondering if any of you chowhounds know anything about where that chef went to. Any leads would be massively appreciated. I'd also be curious to know what happened to Junior, our favorite Maitre D' from there.

Thanks, folks...
