Hello Hounds. Just a quick note to say how impressed I was with the Modern, Meyers place in the MOMA. I know its been open a while now but with tourists and all I thought the 4th would be a good day to give it (and the museum) a go.
The drinks were great, especially like the passion fruit / mango mojito and rhubarb margarita. The menu blew me away for a restaurant that was in a museum started with the arctic char app, the wife had the tagliatelle with morels and fresh snap peas and I couldnt pass up the duck confit. The best was yet to come the beignets for dessert were fantastic with a warm cherry chutney and caramel dipping sauce. Best Ive had since Café Du Monde. The portions were downright large and the prices relatively low (the apps and lunch were between $10 and $15 each. The drinks, as you might expect, were a wee bit pricey but not more so than anywhere else in midtown.)
The place is beautiful, very modern (pun intended) and the bar (where we ate) was very nice. A great selection of cognacs and armagnacs too. The bartenders were extremely knowledgeable and all around great guys. Danny Meyer sure knows how to hire.
Looking forward to getting back for dinner.
