Walking home from the Chelsea Market, I originally was going to pick up a couple of Billy's cupcakes. DH wanted red velvet; however they just ran out. So I proceeded to continue walking to Burger and Cupcakes.
I haven't been there in a while (over a year) -- but it was really so much better than I had remembered. I got a marble with chocolate ganache and red velvet. They were both moist and had well-rounded flavors (meaning there was salt in it, unlike some of the other cupcakes in NYC). The tangy cream cheese frosting was a perfect complement to the red velvet, and the chocolate ganache was high quality and silky-smoloth, unlike the nasty fluff on Magnolia's or Buttercup. And did I mention moist? It is so rare to find a commercially prepared cupcake that's moist. The cupcakes also were not too sweet, allowing the high quality ingredients to shine through.
