Stopped into Cucina to pick up some dessert to go, and ended up in a 1/2 hour conversation with Anthony, the owner of Cucina, A&S Pork Stores, the Mike & Tony's building, and, as he told me this evening, some 20 other stores around the city.
He has leased the space to a group of French restaurateurs. They have paid a deposit. They start paying rent, and renovating, on July 1st. They plan to open approximately 2 months after that.
He described it as upscale French with a casual feel, and it will have a bar. They will do extensive remodeling of the space. The group apparently owns several establishments in Paris.
P.S. The Cucina desserts were cloyingly oversweet.
