Mid-February Wine Pairing Dinner Success

Thanks to much help from this board, we had a lively and wonderful dinner last night with
friends. The pairings were, in my view, just perfect. A four hour Sunday dinner went like this:

Smoked Salmon, Fennel and Goat Cheese Toasts
Duval Leroy delicious, now that it's made the top
100 list, way more expensive than we're used to, but so very nice.
Chicken Marbella, Citrus Couscous, Beet salad
Semillon Chardonnay, 2004- Hunter Valley Marquee Artisan Wines, Australia
Dragonstone Riesling, 2005 - Leitz
Meyer Lemon Pudding Cake with Berries

Riesling Auslee, 2004, Late Harvest, Ernst Loosen

The Chardonnay (I typically prefer a big bold red) with the Semillon was received with much enthusiasm. Actually, God that was good. The Riesling, not normally a taste I could tolerate, because of its sweetness, paired so very well with the fruity sweetness of the Marbella. And the choice of the late harvest Riesling, with the lemon pudding cake and chocolates, sent us rocking.
