I wish more CH friends could have made it, because I think they would have been pleased...
We missed you.... And we love you...

Well, the four of us had a nice little party, and we ordered a decent amount of items, with our waiter bringing one fried crab-roll type thing 'on the house', which was nice...
I couldn't find it on the menu so I can't ID it properly...
The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and darn if everything wasn't delicious!

In a few cases, whether in the accompanying sauces or in the dish itself, there was a very appealing play between sweet and spicy...
The crispy Quail, fried beef dumplings, the Shaking Beef, and the Seafood Udon Hotpot come to mind...
--- and I'm a guy who gets mad when dishes are sweet that I think don't need to be...
That wasn't the case here... I really loved it!

The creamy Curried Chicken with Vegetables was full flavor, medium spicy (as ordered), and delicious--- even though it tasted more Thai than Vietnamese...
I'm not an expert on either, being much more familiar with Chinese, so maybe there was no border crossings at all...

Edited to add: I just noticed their name is Jade Bistro 'Asian Cuisine', so obviously their scope is wider than Viet... Even better,,,
Also, the Quail were good here, but were juicier and better presented at ABC Seafood when a few of us visited there last year...

The saucy spicy Oysters prepared proudly tableside were super tasty, served with a loaf of fresh Vietnamese baguette that they made clear was there to sop up all the sauce...

A grilled pork Banh Mi was delicious just like it's suppossed to be...
Beef Noodle Soup had excellent flavor and tender beef...

I mentioned as we were pondering the menu that the 'Shaking Beef' COULD be good, but only if they use a well-considered cut of beef and treated it properly....
And as soon as I speared a piece I knew they did!
It was rich and tender, and cut into fairly thick chunks...
A wrong cut of beef could never have been cut so thick... ly?

Like I said once before, when I do Vietnamese I always order Pho, fresh Spring Rolls, and Vietnamese coffee--- so it was a real treat to explore the menu a little further...

Now let's see how many pics they'll let me put up...
