I grew up in Miami and now live in San Francisco. I come back every year or so and eat the things I can't get on the west coast:
-La Spada Subs
-Cuban food (Versailles, Casa Larios)
-Florida seafood - stone crab, conch, etc. (i was horrified to find out that East Coast Fishery closed)
Since the last time I was in Miami, I discovered Chowhound, so I'm hoping to get some good recommendations from my fellow hounds.
I'm going to be at a conference in Boca towards the end of August. My mom and sister live in Ft Lauderdale; grandparents in NMB; dad in Coral Gables; buddies in South Miami. Bottom line: I'm looking for good places to eat anywhere between Boca and South Miami.
I'm looking for great local food. I'll take high end recommendations as well, but please try to pick places that are South-Florida-unique.
Thanks in advance!
