dinner last night after around 4 years’ absence. Over the last ten years, been around ten times, but don’t know why less so recently. Will be going more now, as it’s even better than I remembered it.

A’s (around $9 each): empanadas; camerones, with chile adobo--red chile marinade--and steamed spinach were both excellent. The sauce with the shrimp had a delicious smokiness. Our third, corn tamal with chili and mexican white cheese was good, tho’ a little stodgy for me.

M’s ($15-20 each): I had chicken enchiladas verdes. The tomatillo-poblano sauce was slightly mouth-puckering, lovely. The chicken was a tiny, tiny bit dry, and the rice was overkill, but I really enjoyed this dish. I also tried the chicken taco platter (very good) and the grilled chicken with roasted green poblano strips in cream sauce. this was scrumptious, but very rich. the accompanying little fried potatoes were crunchy, piping hot and well salted..

Margaritas good, tho maybe a little heavy handed with the triple sec.

The seats are incredibly hard, tables very close together, and the little place is as noisy as I remembered it. that said we will be back.

(an aside: We’ve been using the Bayless & Bayless books recently, and the enchiladas, the salsas and marinades tasted as good as those you get following B&Bs recipes. That’s a rec in my book.)
