Mexican food in NYC - come on, it must be there

I had previously posted about two great little Mexican dives in the Bronx near my old office - Real Azteca, on 163rd between Southern Blvd. and Simpson St., and La Espiga IV, on Southern Blvd. and 149th. I also love Tacos Nuevos Mexico in Park Slope, on 5th Ave between 11th and 12th.

But can that be it for great Mexican in NYC? I know that this ain't California, but the Mexican NYC population has been increasingly dramatically of late. Is there any gem out there someone can recommend? I've tried three taquerias in Sunset Park (Rico's Tacos, Tacos Matamoros, and Taqueria Mexicana, all close to 5th Avenue) and the much-hyped Los Dos Rancheros in Hell's Kitchen and have been unimpressed. I mean, I didn't hate the places, but they weren't worth a special trip. I've read glowing reports about Coatzinga in Jackson Heights, and tried it and wasn't thrilled either. (I can be pretty peripatetic when it comes to searching out a great torta). If it's necessary to go to a truck somewhere, I'll try it.
