I just came home from the most embarrassingly expensive and over rated, precious, dining experience at Met Bar. The portions were small, and the prices were high on everything, including the vegetables which are all a la carte. I ordered the vegetarian plate, because nothing else appealed to me. For $22 I received a plate with a sherry glass half filled with pea soup, a small mound of excessively salty braised spinach, and two cracker crust pieces of flat bread about hand size, of what they call a "pizza" with a small portion of goat cheese and carmelized onions on top.
My husband had a veal chop which was a small but reasonable size but also very expensive.
The bread basket was good but skimpy, and the waiter asked us 2 times if we wanted it removed after my husband had a first course of gazpacho. We had to say no thank you twice! Without the bread I would have gone home hungry after eating a very expensive plate of spinach and crackers.
We will never return and not recommend this highway robbery of a restaurant to others.
