8 of us met at the bar at 6. Good drinks & service. Beautiful room w/well-spaced tables, fanciful track lighting & great harbor view - we watched the sun set. Were set against back wall in corner out of the foot traffic at table for 8 in a full room. Immediately brought 3 kinds of bread/rolls for ea. diner, then little half egg-sized amuse of cool, intense tomato soup.
1.Wild mushroom & Sweet Corn soup w/leek filled pasta pillow - absolutely sublime(wish I ordered this); 2. Carmelized sea scallops(2 good-sized)in piquant pink grapefruit butter & perfectly cooked micro bok choy. 3. Several tender, deep-flavored pink slices of wild berry glazed roast LI duck breast w/char grilled summer veggies.
1. Parm Chees, spinach & cippolilni onion risotto w/red peper stuffed squash blossom-don't think anyone ordered this; 2. Pan-seared 5-spice rubbed shrimp in carrot, ginger coconut broth & oriental veggies(broth too sweet for me); 3. Swiss chard & garlic-stuffed crisp chix breast w/Himalayan red rice & white wine demi-sole diner pronouced Ok, but not mind-blowing. 4. Ample wood-grilled filet mignon w/horseradish cream & Meritage essence(? red wine reduction) and a cylindrical tower of whipped, golden potatoes that was delicious. This was the entree of choice & mine was arrived perfectly rare as ordered.
1. Selection of 3 cheeses: Romano, Humboldt Fog & Robiola w/thin toasts of walnut bread, grilled figs & watercress to swoon over. 2. Citrus tasting of frozen lemonadge tower & candied orange & mascarpone crepes - the favorite; 3. Red fruit tasting of warm plum tart & strawberry buttermilk panna cotta pyramind - 2nd favorite; 4. Chocolate tasting of malted chocolate cream cone & dark chocolate ice cream pie - don't know if anyone got this.
A $15 flight of 3 wines: 2003 Teal Lake Chard, SE Aussie, 2002 Jacob's Creek merlot SEA, & 2002 Chateau Bel Air, Saint-Croix-Du-Mont sauterne from France ordered by most of us. I loved the Chard, others the dessert wine. Service was excellent w/water refills whenver needed, host stopped by for wine flight explanation & to answer any questions as well as check how we were doing. Approx. $55 pp w/t&t. We all thought it was a great value for the food, service, price and ambiance. We recommend Meritage.
