Matt's on the Market - dinner

Based on some recs on this board (I'm a Boston 'hounder), I had dinner at Matt's and am pleased to announce that the Chowhound community has come through yet again with a great spot!

I ate at the bar and started with 2 apps.
Spicy, steamed cockles and a marinated white anchovy salad - both were fantastic.
The clams were tender and perfectly steamed in a spicy beer broth and shallots;
the white anchovy were cut nicely with a vinegary marinade.

As it was my first time in Seattle, I knew I had to try the wild salmon I've read/heard so much about.
Apparently it's Copper River salmon season right now and it was offered as a special.
It was served with asparagus spears, mashed potatoes with chiles and topped with crispy bacon bits served with a light, brothy, barely-apparent sauce.
So refreshing to have a salmon dish which just let the fish be the star of the dish.
The salmon was perfectly cooked and simply delicious.

There's live music there on Wednesdays, and a duo playing arabic music added a nice touch to the ambiance.

Matt's puts out a lot of great food (it seats 9 at the bar and about 12 in the dining room but was packed all night) considering they only have 2 portable butane-powered eyes - no stove in the place at all.
Quite a feat, IMO. Service was great as well.

I also ate at the W Hotel and Wild Ginger downtown and my experience at Matt's trumped them both.

Thanks again, PacNW 'Hounds.
