Matterhorn Chef - last night

As mentioned before, mom and I had reservations at 7pm. We both arrived a couple of minutes before and valet parked our cars.
Were seated promptly at a comfy red booth. She explained to me that the most coveted booth is the "Honeymoon Booth" which is right across the dance floor in front of where Fritz and owner/chef Ueli sing. We got the booth right next to that one, so I assume that would make it the 2nd best. Whatever. Very nice and comfy, though.
We each ordered a glass of wine and the busboy brought us their lazy susan. It includes fresh baked bread & butter and pate, white bean salad, and an assortment of pickled jicama (?), pickled carrots, pickled cucumber, beets and I think I am missing something. Very, very good. This is included in the meal.
We placed our orders. I ordered the BRUHWILERS'S HERRENFILET $24 which is medallions of veal, beef, & lamb with three sauces. Mom ordered the WURSTPLATTE $20 which is an assorted grilled sausage plate with sauerkraut & potato salad (she asked for Spaetzle in place of the potato).
All I can say is DELICIOUS!
Mine came as follows: all the medallions were about 1-1 1/2" thick, grilled to perfection. The steak came with a red wine reduction sauce, the veal came with a mushroom cream sauce and the lamb (bone attached) came with the most delicious mustard sauce. Sided with deliciously and perfectly sweetened carrots, broiled tomato, mashed potatoes and spinach souffle. Magnificent.
Mom's was equally as good. There were 3 good-sized grilled sausages - 1 was veal, another bratwurst and I cannot recall what the third was. Served with sauerkraut, grilled onions, the spaetzle, carrots and maybe something else I am missing.
For dessert we ordered the apple streudel with vanilla sauce. Tasted like it jumped out at me from one of my childhood memories.
I have to say that I thouroughly enjoyed my meal. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was spot on.
It was great when Ueli joined Fritz in singing. He has a very good voice. They were singing Swiss, German and Italian songs.
I am hoping to get back before they close. Mom is going back to have a drink in the bar with a couple of friends tonight.
They are packed solid tonight, but I think that during the week they have space (closed M & Tu) but Saturdays are the most filled thus far. He has 2 big parties on the 21st.
Ueli and Monica (our waitress) both told us that they expect to close around Jan. 28, but that is ONLY if escrow goes through. He said that if it does not, they are not closing. My mom asked him if he was going to open another space somewhere and he said that he is looking but has not made that decision yet.
