Last night they eliminated 3 contestants, I have a feeling this show will be wrapping up soon. Let me start out by saying, I have no idea what the format of the Australian version was like I've never seen or read about the original. However, after watching MC last night I couldn't help but think the producers made a conscious decision to change things so as it wouldn't be a direct copy of Top Chef. Am I wrong? What I did not like was another challenge to decide who goes home. To me that says you can screw up all you want as long as you jump another hurdle. I wonder if it will be the same for individual challenges.
I thought it was really unfair to drop all of these contestants into an off site catering challenge when a lot of these people would have trouble cooking for more than 15-20 people. I wish the judges would have given them some guidance on portion sizes before they started planning. However, I don't know how the red team felt they could get away with feeding 200 people with only 3 pans of each of their sides. I also don't know how the judges could say it was close when the red team failed to provide enough food. On a side note it also bothered me that the judges didn't taste each contestants food in the QF(?) during the first hour.
Despite all of my misgivings, I did like seeing the contestants cook. I just wish there was more focus on what the prepared and the flavors from the judges.
