Marty's on Pico

WLA | Jul 14, 2004 10:50 AM

Stopped in for a chili cheese dog, (CCD) with raw onions yesterday while in the midst of the daily driving lesson for my 16 year old son, (whose behind the wheel test comes up on 7/23, horrors!).

It certainly beat the heck out of the CCD at Johnny's Pastrami in Culver City. The chili was much better and their fries were cooked fresh for our order and I had a real yen to get another order of fries to go they were so darn tasty, but I resisted.

My main problem is I don't like grilled dogs nearly as much as steamed dogs. This one had good taste and snap. In any case I am still looking for a CCD or Chicago style dog in the West LA area that will come close to rivaling the old El Patio on Wilshire in West LA, (may it RIP, sob).

I thought my son's burger looked a little skimpy and I would go for a double with chili and cheese if it was my order.

Marty's is a tiny stand with a patio and tables in the back on the south side of Pico just 2 or 3 blocks east of Overland.
