I had been looking for NO restaurants that might have something similar to the Commander's Palace Chef's Table. It's not somthing I feel I HAVE to do, but I thought it would be nice to have a special experience.
One of you also mentioned that you had a good experience with "Chef's Table Tours". I looked them up, and they offer a V.I.P.-type table in a few NO restaurants. Apparently, they have an arrangement with each place where you are supposed to get particularly nice treatment, and and can have a wine pairing with your meal. I thought I'd get your advice as Chowhound experts as to whether it seemed worth it.
They offer this at seven restaurants: GW Fins, Marisol's, Bombay Club, Rio Mar, Mr. John's Steak and Seafood, Zydeco Bayou Barbecue, and Uncle Buck's Crawfish Boils. Of these, I was leaning heavily towards Marisol's, with the second choice being GW Fins.
You also supposedly get a tour of the kitchen, and a "goodie bag"...lol
For example, at Marisol, for five courses with a wine pairing at each course excluding dessert, the cost is $78.50, not including tax and tip. Prices at the other restaurants are similar. You can get the same thing without the wine pairing at a reduced price.
Any thoughts as to whether this would be worth it? --or whether we should just make a regular reservation at Marisol's or one of the many other wonderful restaurants available to us? We are going to be in town for several days, so this would be one of several dinners. Any thoughts about any of the other restaurants on the Chef's Table Tour list?
