My French housemate here in Germany just made this savory tart in a matter of minutes. It is delicious and the kitchen smells unbelievably good.

She rolled out a pre-made pizza base (she says her mother normally makes a simple dough out of butter, flour, and a pinch of salt) and pressed it into a rectangular baking pan.
Over this, she spread a generous layer of Dijon mustard.
Sliced 4-5 tomatoes into very thin wedges -- Californian in me sees hothouse and thinks eek! -- and arranged them attractively in rows in pan.
Topped these with a few strips of German cooked ham.
Sprinkled over several generous handfuls of shredded Emmenthaler cheese, and on top of this, about a tsp of dried thyme.
Baked 20 minutes in a hot oven (don't know exactly what temperature, because someone cleaned the stove dials a little too enthusiastically and there are no numbers any more!)

I know it sounds kind of like a pizza, but it is much more fragrant -- all that good Dijon mustard and Emmenthaler. I will be making this one in the future. Hope you enjoy.
