Table for 2 at Marigold on Friday night. It was awesome from start to finish - food, ambience, service. I started with a tomato risotto wtih roasted corn and rock shrimp with an avocado cilantro coulis. My boyfriend's gruyere and carmelized onion grilled cheese - which was sorta like a focaccia triangle slice with the goods on top- was heavenly, espcially when dipped into the "bacony potato foam". What? Huh? Yeah, it was righteous - a sort of shaving cream consistency, that was, simply , bacony potato foam. and there was a pretty little fried egg along side. Dinners: I had a hangar steak cooked to perfection surrounded by a horseradish jus with watercress spaetzle and artichokes. Boyfriend had a niman ranch pork tenderloin that rocked rocked rocked - juicy, flavorful. On the side was a pulled pork galette - smokey flavor, paper thin potatoes and a touch of apple. I would eat this every day if I could (wondered aloud if I could get about 30 of them to okeep in the freezer).

Dessert: I had tapioca with sour cherries and a sour cherry sorbet and a pistachio drizzle. Boyfriend had a dulche de leche creme brulee with blackberries and a blackberry sorbet.

Our servers were attentive and pleasant. We opened champagne to start and they asked if we would like, meanwhile, to have the red opened to breath. Good stuff.

Damn I love this place.

Note: They aer closing for three weeks starting, I think, July 25 (chef going on his honeymoon). And, they no longer serve brunch.

So, if you haven't been, go. Run. Don't walk.
