I went to Marconi's for the first time last night (Tuesday). I had read a glowing review in the City Paper and had even read a favorable article about it that's archived on the Atlantic Monthly website. So I had high expectations - and was dissapointed.
I ordered the "signature" Italian Salad that the menu said was prepared tableside and it came out already prepared. They were out of our first choice when wine was ordered. My dinner companion's french onion soup was (so I heard) bland - and not even close to the quality of this dish at Le Petite Louis. Both of us ordered the "signature" Lobster Cardinale. The lobster was chewy (overcooked?) , the sauce was bland, and the lobster's shell had been burnt on top and produced an unpleasant burnt smell.
The coffee was satisfactory. The bill was $100 for two (including the wine).
Anyone else been there lately?
