So a month ago I went over to a friend's house and she shared this immaculate rosewater pistachio candy that she bought in Palestine. It had pistachios and other nuts and looked like the attached photo. She had no idea what it was called.
After much research, I think that it is Malban, which according to Wikipedia is what Turkish Delight is called in Lebanon. However, any Turkish delight I've ever had has been quite soft and very sweet, unlike what I had which was quite moderately sweet and quite hard but still chewable. I'm sure there are different variations of starch / sugar candy that have been categorized under the umbrella term "turkish deligh" so it may just be a semantics thing...
Google imaging malban generates pictures that best correspond with what I ate, as opposed to when I google turkish delight which generates a variety of things many of which do not look like what I ate.
Anyways, I'm looking for this in Montreal! Oh, twas so good.
