Are there two flavors of Maggi seasoning? It seems to me that Vietnamese restaurants used to cook beef using sauce similar to the Maggi that I'd found on the tables of restaurants in Switzerland. I used to be able to find it here at the Safeway, too. Then it seems that they changed the flavor: the stuff suddenly tasted like La Choy soy sauce. I tried the Latino section of the grocery store, but that stuff had the same soy sauce flavor, too.
Yesterday while browsing in H-Mart I saw bottles with the familiar yellow and red label, but also a variety (for a dollar more) that said something like "from Europe" or "European," etc. I'm wondering if THAT is the one I've been looking for.
H-mart is bountiful, but frustrating, as there's no way to sample the many mysterious sauces, etc., and no one to consult. I also saw something called "drinking vinegar," apparently pomegranate-flavored. It sounded intriguing, but I didn't feel like risking on $8.99 on a bottle. Anyone here ever tried it?
