Ma Peche, a David Chang restaurant, was my only dinner out while I was in the city for 2 nights. In Midtown, convenient to my office and hotel, I got there early and sat at the bar. I truly enjoyed their happy hour special as the specialty drinks were only $3 until 7:00 (on a Tuesday). The seven spice sour – togarashi-infused momofuku sake, yuzu and lime was perfectly sour and absolutely lovely with small ice chips to keep it cold and add a little texture to the drink.
I sampled the scallops from the raw menu. They were good but not great.
The foie gras from the small plate menu was a beautiful interpretation of a root beer float with a yogurt cream and sarsaparilla. I'd order it again and I dont do that often.
Next the duck 2 ways - sliced breast and a sausage. Flavor was good but skin should have been a bit crispier, also the flavor combo with oranges and pistachios was good but not pronounced enough for my tastes.
The mushroom dish off the veggie menu was good but I was pretty full to appreciate it.
I would go back...definitely for happy hour, just for the seven spice sour and maybe a side of foie gras.
