Make My Lunch – A One Year Challenge:

Mission: Help a chowhound expand their eating horizons by choosing their lunch destinations for a year.

Background: I’m lucky enough to have a job that allows me to go pretty much anywhere I want everyday and I’m unlucky enough to be on a diet so I came to a compromise. I’ll bring my healthy lunch 4 days a week and eat out once a week. Why waste my opportunity to eat out wherever I want by eating at the same places all the time? I’ve been suffering repetitive restaurant visitor syndrome for a long time and it’s about time I find a cure.

Benefits to you: I will go to the chosen location each week (unless I’m out of town) and I will try the suggested dish. The following week I’ll do a write up of the location and its food, service, and décor. I’ll also take pictures and grab menus if possible. Hopefully this will create a well rounded journal of cheap lunch locations.

Rules: I can only do these assignments during lunch at work and they have to be $10 or less not including drinks. I have to be able to eat there in an hour or less. The places can be take out only (Please suggest a nearby location where I can relax and eat), sit down, fairly nice (I know it’s only 10 bucks), or a hole in the wall. The type of establishment or food doesn’t really matter I’ll pretty much try anything. Places that I have dined before get eliminated from the list. The restaurant also has to be within Los Angeles and Orange Counties and they can’t be on Catalina Island. Keep in mind that most of the time I will be dining alone.

Format: Just submit your suggestion every week during my post and I will select randomly from a hat. A location will get an extra paper in the hat for each suggestion it gets.

So help me out, keep me from wasting my few precious opportunities to eat out. I’m tired of eating the same old things so help me spice up my life a little.
