Lunch at Bob's Noodle in Rockville

I took my out of town guests to Bob's for lunch on Friday. The restaurant was mobbed but it was only a 20 minute wait for a table for six.

Everyone enjoyed the meal very much but in retrospect there were a number of weak links in the array of dishes. The unanimous favorite was the ginger chicken casserole and the fried calamari with basil leaves was also well received. The fried softshells were good (but suffered in comparison with the same dish we had at Full Kee the next night). Shrimp with yellow chives were nicely cooked but too strong on the garlic for me. There was a mixed reaction to the tilapia with the spicy bean sauce....some liked it but others found the sauce a bit strong. There was also a split about the dry Taiwanese noodles served with hardcooked eggs. Spinach with garlic was not a success at all.

I would go back but in truth (see my accompanying post about dinner at Full Kee on Saturday), Full Kee is still my first choice.
