Lunch in Ayer, MA or Groton, MA (Nashua River Rail Trail)?

InmanSQ Girl | Aug 21, 2007 12:06 PM

I'm looking for a place to stop for lunch either at the beginning or along the Nashua River Rail Trail. I went once already and stopped at the Irish pub JP O'Hanlons in Ayer, MA which meant well, but had very slow service and very heavy food. I am hoping to find a sit down place that has somewhat healthier / lighter choices than fried fish sandwiches (not the best thing to have sitting in your stomach when you're biking 20 miles). The trail passes through Main St. Groton, MA, so that is also a possibility. Any nice places with sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.? Really good one would be even better. Pretty / cute atmosphere would be the ultimate, but I'm not going to push it :)

It can also be along Rt 2 West on the way to Ayer, MA or near by (I'm driving up to Ayer, MA from Somerville, MA via Rt 2 West to Rt 111 North).

Thanks!
